A Shallow View of Death
And now I feel like the eyes
of eternity, feel like never
looking into anyone’s
eyes again.
I am no person to marry,
no person to follow the rules.
I am nothing more than
a plastic bag in the wind
like a Thanatopsis.
I am no longer sure how
I want to live my life.
I am no longer sixteen,
but I feel as though
I should be.
I am feeling a bit Bukowski.
I am feeling more like
spinning in circles
listening to Mumford
and Sons, spinning
like so many ignorant
people in a crowd,
like so many obsessions
forming together
in the sky like
a great gig—
like a Pink Floyd album
synced to ruby reds.
