Road/Ode to Joy at The National
I heard a girl say on the way
out:
"if i die, i'll be happy now"
i couldn't dispute her like
the blonde ignoramus imprinted
with a yellow bird just
above the poon.
i've learned that love is all
that squeezes through the
cracks of society
and i felt it—
four strong.
Conor, maybe you'll make
a difference. maybe we'll
"go Egypt on their asses"
but not soon enough.
i'm glad they were all
drunk when i yelled:
"socialism"
I yelled it once for you,
once for me. No capitalism
in that.
thank you, because
that night
all was well on
the hippie front
